Social Responsibility

Image result for ultimate frisbee
This Monday in Option P.E we played Ultimate Frisbee with Mr Cunard and as we played we were to keep in mind Hellison's Five Levels of Social Responsibility and use it for the basis of our activity and how we performed. Today I think I displayed a level 3 which could've been a 4 or 5 but a lot of the time I tend to forget about the levels and play in a slight unpleasant manner. I was also proud of myself because of my improvement from the last lesson which I was displaying a level 1. Hopefully in the next lesson I could do better and strive for a Level 5.

Printmaking

WALA: the different types of printing techniques and each of their processes

One of the focused things we did in art this term was learning about the types of printings. Of all the eight printing types we researched; we had only ever got to do the woodcut process. I would really like to share with you my experience in pursuing the Woodcut process with the rest of my class. Check out my blog regularly for any posts.

A.I.M Talk

This morning; team 5 were given an inspirational speech from a former Pt England student; Raenan who came in with Mr Andrew Patterson. As Raenan was talking to us he was also being interviewed by Andrew Patterson. Most of the questions that Mr Patterson asked him was about school and how he felt when he started college.

One of the most inspirational quotes that Raenan had given was; "Take advantage of the opportunities in front of you". This was something that he learnt from Mr Patterson during the last four years that they've bonded or known each other.

Raenan shared with us his biggest goal that he kept with him since his first year in college. Which was to become the head boy in year thirteen at Tamaki College. In their school prize giving he got the job of being deputy head boy for 2018.

Today's speech has inspired me to do my best in school and to hold on to my life goals. After the speech that we were given today I will make sure to grasp any opportunities that come my way and make the most of them.

Pt England vs Tauranga Intermediate

Last week our Rugby 7's boys went over to Tauranga to play against other teams in 7's tournament. Fortunately our boys reached the final and they had to play against Tauranga Intermediate. Our task for this Google Presentation was to read an article then reflect on what was written on it. For the last slide we had to list some features that the writer might have missed out in the article.

Maniakalani Filming Experiences

Image result for manaiakalani film festival

It's nearly time for our Film Festival and we've been having lots of fun planning & filming our movie for this once a year event. For this special occasion schools from the Manaiakalani Cluster have to prepare class for class movies about anything at all like, comedy, MTV, game show & etc.

During our filming some of us had to just memorize our script on the spot and it was really hard to get our lines right. In our film we have two hosts & I find it really facsinating because both there are two different hosts and they have the same name.

This year in Rm 3 it has been such a struggle trying to film our movie with our school production rehearsals in the way so then we had to film during our learning times. Luckily we were able to complete our movie before the cut off day today.

Book Review

Walt: read for enjoyment

This week in literacy one of our tasks were to read for enjoyment. As you can see the book that I've read is called The Birthday Party Of No Return. Have you read this book before? I think it is a good book for people around my age (11, 12, 13,) to read this book because its not too complex to read. If your interested then do not hesitate to read it.

Identity About Family Or Belonging

WALT: a. Students will explore how people in Aotearoa New Zealand make choices and take action that makes a significant contribution to New Zealand Society.  (Historically and currently)b. Students explore the idea of a national New Zealand identity and the ways it is represented.
________________________________________________________________________________
Identity is a word that describes our personalities and our family too or who we are. Some people don't know their families or they don't know themselves which can make them feel alone or unwanted. In the image above it shows a person standing there with  a side with black text, and a side with purple text. The purple text are examples of words to describe how you could feel if you don't know your relatives, and the black text are examples of words that describe how you could feel when your brain is full of many of your relatives that you know.

Expeience Of Bees With Rose

Intro
Have you ever seen a beehive before? Well luckily for us year 5 & 6 extensioners 0 got to see one and learn about bees with a lady called Rose.

Information From Rose
Rose told us many different things about bees and their hive. Here are some information of what she said or what we learnt from her. Bees can fly three miles but if there is food ahead they would fly even further. Worker bees can make up half of a teaspoon of honey in their lifetime.

The Enemies Of Bees
The German Wasp and the Varroa Mite are like enemies or a threat to bees. Paper Wasps and German Wasps are similar but the Paper Wasps don’t kill bees. German Wasps can damage our fruit and kill bees so the beekeepers try their best to protect the bees from them especially from Varroa Mites that suck the bees blood or juice from its neck.

Conclusion
We had tons of fun with Rose and the bees, so remember when you around bees do not push on it. Have fun with bees!

A Special Market Day

Walt: write an interesting and detailed recount

Image result for trade and enterprise

This term our topic is Trade & Enterprise. Trade & Enterprise is about creating and selling products. Most of the children in team four have become rich because of our market day.

We had a market day at school so that we could have a fun activity selling and buying products. In the market I was in a business called custom stationery. Me and my business partners, Rosalina & Venetia were selling maths book covers because at school all our maths books look the same.

Before we got started in the market some of the business groups decided to decorate their classes. Room six, seven and eight decorated their classes with a string that has colorful triangles on them. My business, custom stationery were set up in room six because our teacher was Mr Goodwin.

In the market not just team four was there were visitors from Christchurch who came with pt’s and pcs. They got the chance to buy product from us with the money they got. Unfortunately they came in the second half and all the product were nearly gone.

The market was really fun even when we got to buy from other business groups. I liked buying from all the groups but I liked kitchen the most. I could tell that most of the other students liked kitchen best because it was almost sold out.

The market was really fun! I am really looking forward to the surprise our teachers are planning for us. We are all hoping to be able to spend all our money on really cool things.
