Jesus is Born

Intro
Two thousand years ago in a city called Nazareth, there lived a woman called Mary prepared to be married to a man named Joseph. One day an angel appeared and told Mary that she was chosen to be the mother of gods son. Mary told Joseph about the special news. The next night an angel came into Joseph’s dream and told him to take good care of Mary so he did.

Travelling
King Caesar ordered everyone to meet in Bethlehem. Sometime later they travelled to Bethlehem on their donkey. When they arrived it seemed full then they asked the innkeeper if they could stay there. The innkeeper said They couldn’t stay there then Joseph said “but she’s going to have a baby” so the innkeeper thought about it and then he let them stay in the stable. Joseph and Mary were glad to stay in the stable even if it was a stable full of animals.

Conclusion
At that moment Jesus was born. Out on the hills shepherds were watching their sheep. Suddenly angels appeared in the sky to tell the amazing news of Jesus’s birth when they vanished the shepherds hurried to find the baby Jesus. They found him and they were glad sometime later three wise men came in search of Jesus. One of them said “we have seen the star and it has led us here” they brought wonderful gifts for Jesus Gold, Frankincense and myrrh. That is the true story of how the very first Christmas.

My trip to the Auckland art gallery

IntroThe modern extension completed
Have you ever been to an art gallery before? Well if you haven’t I can explain to you about my visit to the Auckland art gallery. On friday the twenty first of November all the year fives visited the Auckland art gallery. We went on this trip to learn new things about art that we never knew before.

Gallery tour session
Next Linda lead us to the victorian art room she taught us how to read stories from art. The story we were admiring was the fortune teller. We had to make up our own ending my ending was making them her servants and make them do everything for her.

Studio session
Our studio session teacher was Mandy we made stories with her but we weren’t aloud to write any words just draw pictures. After we drew our pictures we started painting them with water paint. The cool thing was they had special kind of coloring pencils. For my story I drew my aunt’s funeral. Next we had to switch over with someone and find out what their story was about.

Conclusion

Before I finish of this story and before you want to visit an art gallery you have to know the Rules. The next time I visit an art gallery I hope its the same one. I hope you enjoyed my story and have a good time in the gallery if visit.

Creative and Thoughtful Title:Protecting Ourselves from the Sun

Introduction
Have you ever heard of the UV Rays? Well if you haven't I am going to tell you what it’s all about. UV stands for Ultraviolet rays and it involves the sun so we should protect ourselves from UV rays.

How to be sunsmart
There are many ways to stay sunsmart like, wearing long sleeves, using sun block, wearing sunglasses and using an umbrella. We can stay sunsmart by staying in the shade or wearing a hat and a long sleeved shirt and track pants. The UV rays can give you sunburn in just eleven minutes so you should get out of the sun before eleven minutes.

Why we need to stay sunsmart
When you are in the sun its important to wear sun block on your skin. You should always use sun protection when you go out into the sun incase you get  burnt. If you don’t want to get burnt by the sun then you should wear some protection on your skin because the UV rays can make your skin burnt in just eleven minutes.

When burn time comes
Burn time is when the UV gets stronger than it really is. It begins in September to April from 10am to 4pm every day. Everyone loves summer but sometimes we don’t know about the UV rays and what it could do to you.

Causing skin cancer
Spending too much time in the sun can cause sunburn and sunburn can cause skin cancer. And when we get skin cancer it could be deadly. Many people has died because of skin cancer caused by the sun.

Conclusion
Did you enjoy my sunsmart explanation?

Well if you did thanks and remember don’t spend too much time in the sun. Be a sunsmart person and keep checking out my blog for more explanations.

The power outage in the holidays

My holiday was going great until the  lights switched off on  Sunday.
I thought that it was just my house lights  that shut
down but when I looked outside it was pitch black. When  the  lights shut down I was afraid of going shopping because so dark  you would just walk inside and then trip over or bump into  something.

On Tuesday the lights finally came back and I was so glad. If the  lights were to stay off for another day I don’t think I would  survive that.  What happened in your holiday and what did you enjoy?

Five questions I would ask Michel Tuffery

1.What kind of art do you like?
2.How long have you been drawing pictures?
3.Where did you like to go when you were a little kid?
4.what did you like to do when you were a little kid?

5.How can you help  kids to do art?

These are the questions I would ask Michel Tuffery.

Key competencies

Introduction
Have you ever heard of the key competencies? Thinking, managing self, participating and contributing, relating to others, using language symbols and texts? If you have, then I bet you are a super learner However, if you haven’t well I am here to explain exactly what they are

Managing Self
It’s important to manage yourself in class so that you don’t always get in trouble. For example if you were talking back to the teacher. When she or he told you to do something then you have to control yourself so you can do the right thing. You need to control your actions and make the right choices so you can manage yourself.

Thinking
You need to think so you can answer questions and ask questions about what you don’t know. For example in class if you are stuck on a question then you need to really think hard. If the question is to hard to answer then you should ask a teacher and think about what you are going to say to them. When you have answered the question check with someone and then memorize the answer incase you get that same question again.

Relating to others
When we are relating to others thats when we show respect to the person you are with. For example if you were with a friend they would like it if you were kind to them. They wouldn’t like it when you are mean to them. If you were doing the opposite way of mean then you are relating to others which is your friend.

Conclusion
Now you know three of the very important key competencies that we use at school to be successful learners. Please check out other blogs to see what the two other key competencies are.

Cybersmart

Use My Heart
Using my heart means making the right decisions and being kind to each other. For example if you sent someone a doggy mail and you get in trouble the next time you have to think about what's going to happen before you do it. If I use my heart I wouldn’t get in trouble

I’m gonna to be Cybersmart
Being Cybersmart is doing the right thing on your netbook or chromebook. For example if your friend told you to go onto a game during learning time you have to think before you do so you don’t get in trouble. If your cybersmart then you can be a future focused learner.

Conclusion
Now you know what Cybersmart means and maybe you want to practice how to be cybersmart incase you forget to be safe at school online. Say it with me “Use my brain use my heart I’m gonna be cyber!!!”

Culture Writing

Culture’s are what make countries unique or special in different ways. Each countries have different cultural activities and cultural rituals. Culture is seen in peoples  writing, religion, music, clothes, cooking, and in what they do.

Culture also includes how people understand the world and their own lives.
Different countries have different culture's. So for example some older Japanese people wear kimono’s, arrange flowers in vases and have tea ceremonies.

My family is from Tonga. In my culture we drink a special fruit juice called otai. What is your special tradition and what do you like to do in your country?

WW1 Lest we forget

On the 28th of June in 1914, Franz Ferdinand and his wife were in their car when a man called Gavrilo Princip came along and shot them dead. This terrible news echoed around the world and many countries were involved in a big war.Mr Burt and Mrs Flavell’s grandads volunteered themselves to suport New Zealand with British Empire.

The victoria cross was awarded to the soldiers who fought in the war.A lot of flags today is being flown at half mast and the poppies which grew after the war reminds us about that day. Anzac day is a special remembrance about the people who died and we will not forget them.

Holiday Highhlight

MY Holiday
What a cool holiday I had. During the school break I was at my cousins house. Everything I did there wasn't that bad, it was a nightmare! I always got bullied by my little cousin. What I mostly did was play on the playstation
and the trampoline.

I was supposed to stay there for a week, but instead I left on Friday. When I came home everything was different. There was a lot more space than before. My mum told me that they had cleaned the house.

I missed everyone in the house because I haven't been seeing for almost a week.  I felt so sorry for my little sister because she got even more bullied than I was. She mostly cried when we were there because she can be a bit sensitive. The next holiday I go to my cousins I don't get bullied by her.
